Subject : The difference between the Universities in the Arabic countries and the West.


Assalam aliecom,

Actually the difference between the universities here and the universities in Jordan like the difference between the Jordanian team and the Barazelian team in football, or like the difference between Jordan and USA. It is a huge difference.

I will give you some examples to understand the difference:

Example 1:

In Jordan, the student can copy his research or his project from his friend or from any internet website or copy the words from any book, which is called a plagiarism, but here they can discover these things easily.

Example 2:

In Jordan, the teacher do not give you all the syllabus of the module, but here they do. I will explain "how" in the next time.

Example 3:

In Jordan, not less than 60% of the modules are being taught from internet slides, and these internet slides are being copied in Jordan from the tutors(teachers/doctors) themselves, actually it is a shame for these teachers "doctors" to do that because they are using somethings that have been already done by someone else. Here they absolutely do not do that, any doctor has to prepare the slides by himself or use the slides of the textbook itself, so that once you return back to the textbook you will find that those slides go in parallel with the textbook materials.

Example 4:

In Jordan, the tutors "teachers/doctors" tell the students to go to find out the textbook and the references in the library, and once you go to the library you discover that there are just two or four copies available, and the module itself is being taken by more than three sections in the term, say four, four sections multiplied by 28 students in each section = 112 students, so that do you think that you will be the winner of the running race to the library. But here the library is very very very very very worthy, you can not imagine the services that are available here: free of charge internet access among all the computers available in the library, each student has his account(username and password), each student has a free of charge webmail from the university, photocoping using the student's flexicard(photocoping card), photocoping by yourself without seeing any one stikking beside the background of the photocopier to photocopy on behalf of you, many many books are available here, you can find out all the required textbooks and references easily.

Example 5:

In Jordan, not less than 60% of the modules are being taught by tutors(doctos) who are not that knowledgable about the modules topics. for example: DataBase, Software Engineering modules, --- etc. But here all the modules are being taught by specialists and experts in the modules topics that they are teaching, for example: Requirements Engineering module is being taught here in my university by two specialists in requirements engineering and software engineering topics.

Example 6:

In Jordan, just the internet lab and few other labs are connected to the internet, and once you go to the internet lab "in any jordanian university" you will see that not all the computers are connected to the internet but some of them are disconnected for a reason or without a reason, and some of them have some viruses or some damage or mouse malfunction, But here all the computers are connected to the internet, not only the computers in a one specific lab, but all the computers in all the labs, no viruses, no mouse malfunction.

Example 7:

In Jordan, there is no maintenance and no security as well, I'm sorry to say that but this the truth, therefore this is the reason of computer damage, human damage, "-----" damage "Khalleha mastoora(2 arabic word)" . But here there is a very good security, for example: The student enters to any computer lab by swipping his student card, he can access the computers using his login(his account), Security cameras working at night inside the building and outside, --- and there are many many other examples.

Example 8:

The humans here not like the humans in Jordan, I know that the humans here do not beleave in our religion and they are drinking alcohol and eating pigs and they will enter to the "-----" ---> I'm sorry I can not type it because I do not want to confuse any one around me specially the sweet girl beside me, but they have excellent life, excellent treating behaviors, they do not lie, they do not cheet in their jobs, they love each other, and they love their children and even their animals.
